Icelandic Embassy in Berlin hosts KMT Roundtable and Workshop

On October 17, 2022, GEORG organized a roundtable discussion in Berlin to discuss potential cooperation with German geoscientific institutions on the KMT project. The event was co-organized by the Icelandic Embassy in Berlin and attended by leading research institutions in Germany – such as GFZ, Fraunhofer IEG, ICDP, LMU Munich, and KIT – and governmental representatives from both Iceland and Germany. Earlier this year, KMT received a grant of $300.000 from ICDP; GFZ is already a strong collaborator within the project; and LMU is home of one of the leading geoscientists of KMT.  The workshop built on these existing collaborations with German institutions and marked another step towards expanding international cooperation on the KMT project.
